The Side by Side / UTV industry has grown very popular in the past few years. Each Side by Side comes with a full roll cage and 2 or more seats. Just like the Utility ATV's there is different uses for each Side by Side. You have the sportier style for aggressive trail riding, and racing for the more extreme riders with wider travel and stance for cornering, rough trail, and quick acceleration. Some bikes include the Polaris RZR line ups, Can-am Maverick and the Arctic Cat Wild Cat. You also have the work horse side by side line ups, such as the Polaris Ranger, Honda Big Red or Pioneer, Kawasaki Mule, Arctic Cat Prowler, John Deere RSX and the Yamaha Viking. These Side By Sides come with a dump box and are designed for buyers that are interested in using them for farming, construction, hunting and fishing or working around the yard.
There is also Crossover Sport Side by Sides that offer you both the comfort and handling as the more extreme UTV's but have that ability to be used as a work machine. Some of these machines include the Can-am Commander and Kawasaki Teryx. These models are for the enthusiast that loves to ride the trails but also hauls wood or uses it for yard work when there not adventuring in the backwoods.
Being the biggest and widest ATV's on the market, these are also the more expensive ATV/UTV's on the market. There is also some issues with Side by Sides on ATV friendly trails and roads. Checking your local bylaws is very important before buying. A side by side isn't considered an ATV under certain laws. Some of the places to check is your local municipal websites or offices. You can also check out the MTO website before heading out on the trails.
